2008 NIDLWML Convention

The registration costs are $45 due before September 19th and $50 after
that date. All registrations are due by September 26th. Forms for
registration will be available soon.
For those who wish to stay overnight on Friday, October 17th, a room at
the special rate of $96. can be reserved at the Hilton Garden Inn. This
block rate applies until September 22nd.
A Friday servant event (10AM-2PM) is planned by the Human Care Committee.
The Westmont Second Chance Resale Shop (1131 Fairview Av.) is the place
where the workers are to meet and serve. The convention ingathering of
baby care items will also support the ministry of the DuPage County
CareNet Pregnancy Centers.
The opening worship on Friday evening will be hosted by the women in
mission at Zion Lutheran Church in Hinsdale (204 S Grant, 60521).
On Saturday our convention guest speaker is Kristi Roegner, wife of the
Executive Director of LCMS World Missions. She has served in foreign
mission fields and, more recently, as evangelistic missionary for the
Christian Friends of New Americans. In this role she has worked among
and with many immigrant and refugee women from varied backgrounds (often
from Muslim traditions). Kristi currently works as Small Group Ministry
Coordinator with focus on outreach in her home congregation, Christ
Memorial.
Our Saturday plans also include hearing a message from a
representative of the national LWML, singing with song leader, Lana
Gibbons, and visiting the exhibits in the convention area. If you wish

There will be two great opportunities for you to be caring hearts and hands in conjunction with the NID LWML Convention this year! The first is a service project on Fri., Oct., 17th at Second Chance Resale Shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., located at 1131 Fairview Ave. Westmont, IL 60559. The profits from this shop offer hope and opportunities to women and children who suffer from domestic violence. Please offer your hands to help with such activities as sorting donated clothing, tagging merchandise, organizing shelves, cleaning the shop and reorganizing displays. The second caring hearts and hands opportunity will be the convention in-gathering which will support the local efforts of CareNet Pregnancy Centers in Wood Dale, Glen Ellyn, and Downers Grove. Please collect the needed items at your church and bring them to the convention on Sat., Oct. 18th. Items most needed are: baby products including wipes, shampoo, powder, bath wash, lotion, and diaper cream. Your donations must arrive at the convention center before 10 a.m. on the day of the convention. Thank you for being the hands and feet of Jesus as we share the peace that passes understanding at Drury Lane in Oak Brook on Oct. 18, 2008.
Ticket price $45 if the registration is postmarked by Sept. 19, 2008.
