2008 NIDLWML Convention

A Friday servant event (10AM-2PM) was planned by the Human Care Committee.
The Westmont Second Chance Resale Shop (1131 Fairview Ave, Westmont, IL) is the place where the 30 workers met and served. We sorted and tagged merchandise, organized displays and cleaned.
The opening worship on Friday evening at 7:00 P.M. was hosted by the women in mission at Zion Lutheran Church in Hinsdale (204 S Grant, 60521).
On Saturday our convention guest speaker was Kristi Roegner, wife of the
Executive Director of LCMS World Missions. She has served in foreign
mission fields and, more recently, as evangelistic missionary for the
Christian Friends of New Americans. In this role she has worked among
and with many immigrant and refugee women from varied backgrounds (often
from Muslim traditions). Kristi currently works as Small Group Ministry
Coordinator with focus on outreach in her home congregation, Christ
Memorial. Lana Gibbons directed the music.
We collected $3,207.90 during the offering for inreach.
Our Saturday plans also included hearing a message from Sandy Hardies a
representative of the national LWML, singing with song leader, Lana
Gibbons, and visiting the exhibits in the convention area.
2008 - 2010 Budget: Goal = $215,000.00, Inreach = $38,915.00, Grants = $122,335.00.
Rev. Erik Gauss was elected as Pastoral Counselor.
Elvera Ruff was elected as Vice President of Christian Life.
Carol Fuys was elected as Vice President of Human Care.
Jewel Sims was elected as Convention Chairman.
Charlotte Larson was elected as Corresponding Secretary.
Barbara Etter was elected as Financial Secretary.
Elizabeth Bertels was elected as Recording Secretary.
Carol Sheppard was elected as Nominating Committee East.
Janet Mauer was elected as Nominating Committee South and Chairman.
Carol Elliot was elected as Nominating Committee West.
Ann Lesh was elected as Nominating Committee North.
2010 NID LWML Convention will be Saturday, October 23 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Mt. Prospect. Theme: "The King Reigns Triumphant". Based on 2 Cor. 2:14 NIV.
